LGBTQ+ parents, carers and kinship adults are welcome with their children and families to celebrate a fun and informal afternoon together ahead of the Pride march in Edinburgh (on June 24th). Bring your own picnic goodies to meet your family’s needs, or enjoy some picnic-style snacks provided free by Jules and the Events Team. There’ll be Pride themed outdoor games and silliness as we enjoy taking up space in Leith Links, close to the children’s playpark. Just look for the rainbows and bunting around our space!
Toilets and changing space
There are no public toilets next to our event but there will be staff to let you in the LGBT Health’s offices at Duncan Place, which are a short walk from the site and provide all-gender and accessible toilets, and changing space.
Ideas of what to bring
- Blankets for sitting on, umbrellas for all weather!
- Any outdoor games or toys you’re happy to share
- Clothing for cooler / wetter weather
- Food and drinks for your family
Weather permitting, there’ll be a Tee-pee style tent for the kids to take shelter in as a quiet space and a gazebo for some light rain cover for those that need it.
A note about picnic refreshments
Whilst you are welcome to bring your own food, alcohol is not permitted at our event. There will also be cold refreshments and a selection of picnic snacks provided on a first come first served basis.
