Queer Guided Ramble of Soho
Sunday, December 4, 2022
Soho Tottenham Court Road Soho W1D 1AW
Join Homerton Rainbow for a guided ramble around Soho’s lesser-known queer locations with Nick Collinson (The Urban Rambler).
This will be an accessible walk and we will be taking breaks throughout; and will definitely be ending up in a warm pub afterwards.
For centuries the everyday lives of queer people were suppressed, and it wasn’t until 1967 when the Sexual Offences Act came into effect that homosexual sex acts were decriminalised between consenting men over the age of 21. This in turn opened the door to a slew of legal and social changes that would transform the way British society viewed same-sex relationships and queer identities over the next 50+ years.
Discover tales of loves lost and found, deceit, and debauchery on this Queer Walk of London and hear stories of how its LGBTQ+ inhabitants have shaped society as we know it today.
