Northern Pride returns to Newcastle in July 2025 for a weekend filled with love, visibility, and celebration.
Taking place from Saturday 19 July to Sunday 20 July, this year’s theme, “Unapologetically Visible,” champions the power of authenticity and self-expression in the LGBTQIA+ community. The festival welcomes thousands of people for two days of community-led programming, entertainment, and empowerment, with events happening across the city and the central Pride Arena at Times Square.
Pride Arena Highlights:
The Pride Arena at Times Square is the beating heart of the weekend and will be alive with live music, DJ sets, drag performances, and more. On Saturday 19 July, headliner Pixie Lott will take the stage alongside Gok Wan with a DJ set, dance music legends Livin’ Joy, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK finalist Michael Marouli. The Dance & Cabaret Stage, hosted by Miss Rory, Plastiq, and Paris Munro, will keep the energy high with a dazzling line-up of performers.
On Sunday 20 July, the Arena will spotlight top tribute acts celebrating global icons. Performers include That Freddie Queen (Queen), Totally Taylor (Taylor Swift), Donna Marie (Lady Gaga), and Taste of Sabrina (Sabrina Carpenter). The weekend concludes with the powerful and reflective Candlelight Vigil, offering a moment of remembrance and unity for the LGBTQ+ community.
Tickets for the Pride Arena start at £7.50, with VIP upgrades available for those seeking priority access and premium experiences. While many city-wide events are free to attend, booking early for the Arena is strongly recommended due to high demand.
Parade and City-Wide Celebrations:
Sunday also features the iconic Northern Pride Parade. Starting at 12:00 PM from Newcastle Civic Centre and finishing at the Town Moor, the parade brings thousands of people together in a vibrant march of visibility, joy, and solidarity. Throughout the weekend, the city comes alive with a host of inclusive events for all ages and identities. There will be a dedicated Family & Youth Zone at the Theatre Royal, a Trans+ Zone hosted at Alphabetti Theatre, and the Curious Arts Stage showcasing queer talent at Northern Stage. Screen on the Green at Old Eldon Square provides an open-air cinema experience, and the Market Village will stretch across Grey Street, Grainger Street, and Old Eldon Square with stalls, food, and community information.
Accessibility & Travel:
Northern Pride is dedicated to ensuring all events are inclusive and accessible. Facilities across the venues will include accessible viewing platforms, BSL interpretation on stages, and a dedicated access support team. Public transport links are excellent, with Newcastle Central Station within walking distance, and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead due to road closures and large crowds expected across the weekend.
Get Involved:
Northern Pride thrives thanks to the support of volunteers, performers, community groups, and local organisations. Whether you want to walk in the parade, showcase your talent, host a market stall, or lend a hand behind the scenes, there are plenty of opportunities to contribute and be part of the celebration. Information about registration and applications is available on the official website.
