LGBTQ+ Awareness Training

We encourage all foster carers to attend this really important training that is being provided by SayIt. It will help you to understand the unique needs and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ young people so that you’re able to provide them with safe and affirming care. Learning outcomes from this course include:

• A clear understanding of the difference between sex and gender.

• How to promote inclusion, and become an ally.

• Understanding the impact of LGBTQ+ phobia and discrimination.

• A familiarity with key terms, language and LGBTQ+ identities.

• Knowledge of the laws that protect LGBTQ+ people.

• How to identify support, and signposting.

This training will be taking place at Star House where SayIt are based and so you will also be able to have a look at their youth group spaces and learn more about the brilliant work that they do.
