An afternoon for young LGBTQ+ people and their allies to come together to celebrate their identities, to find community, and to learn.
Are you aged 13-18, or 13-21 with additional needs/SEND?
Do you live, work or study in Bath and North East Somerset (BANES)?
D o you identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, as another sexuality or gender, or are you questioning your sexuality or gender (LGBTQ+)? Or do you see yourself as an ally to these people?
If your answers are yes, then come along to our BANES Youth Pride event! :)
We are the BANES Youth Forum: a youth group who help young people's views to be heard, and who make positive change in the local area.
We're organising a youth Pride event for young LGBTQ+ people and their allies to come together to celebrate their identities, to find community, and to learn.
It will be a welcoming space for young LGBTQ+ people from all backgrounds, including those who live in rural areas of BANES, and those who are neurodiverse.
We’ll have speakers and workshops focusing on the experiences of trans people, on tackling LGBTQ+ discrimination, and on the experiences of LGBTQ+ people of colour. We’ll also have craft activities, books and film suggestions, poetry writing, a quiet space, and leaflets signposting young people to local LGBTQ+ support services. Plus lots of yummy food!
We’ll also celebrate the ten-year anniversary of SPACE, Off The Record’s LGBTQ+ youth group, which has supported and empowered so many young people in this county over the last decade!
This event is supported by Bristol Pride Community Fund and The Beaumont Society's Event Support Grant.
