Join the heart of Wales this spring for Balchder Machynlleth Pride 2025 — a grassroots celebration of LGBTQIA+ life, visibility, and creativity set in the stunning market town of Machynlleth.
This two-day festival of colour and connection brings together queer folk, allies, families, and performers for a warm, inclusive weekend of community-led pride.
On Friday 16 May, the festivities kick off in true Mid Wales style with an intimate evening cabaret at the historic Owain Glyndŵr Centre. Expect a dynamic mix of drag, live music, and spoken word from local and regional LGBTQ+ performers — a powerful, celebratory opening that highlights the town’s rich creative spirit.
Saturday 17 May is Pride Day, and the centrepiece of the weekend takes place from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the Y Plas lawn. This all-ages picnic invites attendees to bring a blanket and settle in for an afternoon of live music, DJs, workshops, community stalls, creative crafts, and inflatable games. With something for everyone — from families with young children to teens, students, and older generations — the lawn becomes a joyful, interactive space rooted in connection and visibility.
As the sun sets, the celebration continues with a second evening cabaret at the Wynnstay Hotel’s Old Pizzeria, where more dazzling drag, music, and cabaret acts take the stage. This laid-back venue is the perfect setting for laughter, applause, and community pride, capping off the weekend with style.
Balchder Machynlleth Pride is entirely volunteer-led and community-powered. Organisers are currently seeking queer creatives, performers, and volunteers to be part of this unique event. Whether you want to perform, help out behind the scenes, or simply show your support, you’re welcome to take part.
