The Particle Physics and Particle Astrophysics (PPPA) group at the University of Sheffield is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic post-doctoral research associate to work with Prof. Dan Tovey and Prof. Vitaly Kudryavtsev on the design of the XLZD future liquid xenon dark matter experiment, with a view to making the case for it to be hosted at the Boulby Underground Laboratory in the UK. The post-holder will develop a Geant4 model of XLZD at Boulby, use it to evaluate the expected event rates in the detector subsystems from internal and external radioactivity and cosmogenic backgrounds, and use this information to optimise the design of the detector.
