Research Associate in Li-ion Battery Safety
Job Description
As part of an exciting Faraday Institution-funded project, SAFEBATT II, we have an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for battery technology looking to use their skills in experimental destructive testing of Li-ion batteries to play a key role in developing novel techniques and procedures for studying their safety.
You will lead on the development of experimental protocols and procedures to perform novel testing campaigns to better understand battery safety. Using your experimental expertise, you will develop standard operating procedures and measurement techniques to capture unique data sets that will underpin the development of modelling tools by the wider research group and project partners.
The position will provide you with significant training opportunities and opportunities to learn new skills (technical, tech-transfer and professional) by closely collaborating with internationally leading partners from academia and industry.
The Department
Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) is ranked amongst the top 5 Chemical Engineering Departments in the UK and is a thriving department within the University's Faculty of Engineering. CBE comprises 38 academic staff, 58 research staff and technicians, 16 support staff and a student population of over 650 undergraduates, and 250 postgraduates (taught and research).
CBE is a major contributor to tackling the key challenges of this century - climate change, energy poverty, affordable medicines, sustainable agriculture and water use, safety, and green manufacturing.
