Racial Equity Developer

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for racial equity development in higher education to work with both the Researcher Development and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion teams. This newly established role has been created to enhance the development and support offer for our academic colleagues, specifically in the area of racial equity and inclusion practices.

As a Racial Equity Developer you will understand the lived experience of people from racially-marginalised backgrounds in HE, particularly in the postgraduate research context. You will have expertise in ED&I issues in the higher education sector and up-to-date knowledge of relevant research and scholarship in this area and a passion for designing and delivering learning interventions that enable our colleagues to develop. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead the design, planning, delivery, embedding and evaluation of racial equity training for PGR supervisors across the University.

You will join the Researcher Development team which is based within Research Services and provides the full range of support to enable academic researchers and postgraduate research students to fund and undertake high quality research and to use the findings of this research for economic and social benefit. You will also spend time with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team, working collaboratively across the institution to bring about and implement strategic initiatives, actions plans, policies and communication campaigns. The ED&I team’s purpose is to advance equality of opportunity for our staff and students.

We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit you and University and we’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
