You will be working as EMachine Test Engineer within Powertrain Test Operations (PTTO) where we utilise state-of-the-art test facilities to develop, verify and sign-off component, sub-system, and system level targets.  

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilites 

 

Plan

  • Interpret Design verification methods for prototype units and translate into rig based tests

  • De-risking through planning and preparation

  • Ensure continuous workflow by reviewing and preparing upcoming tests

 

Automate

  • Develop automated scripts to deliver unmanned component testing and  accelerate development

  • Use of automation to improve the repeatability and data quality

 

Deliver

  • Ensure facility utilisation targets and testing gateways are achieved

  • Take ownership of any issues and work with supporting teams to resolve with urgency

 

Output

  • Follow existing and update best practices to support required level of output data quality

  • Maintain and update documentation

  • Look for novel approaches to challenges & communicate lessons learned

 

Customer focus

  • Build relationship with internal customer to understand their requirements

  • Apply suitable methods and experience to effectively deliver customer requirements

  • Supply concise and clear information to customers on test status & delays, offer solutions

 

Support the wider team

  • Provide management with accurate data to support decision making processes

  • Supply inputs to requirements, budgets, and resource planning

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential:

  • Some experience in hardware or software testing with dynamometers

  • Basic understanding of electrical automotive powertrain systems

  • Proven practical knowledge of automation systems such as CADET, PUMA, MORPHEE etc.

  • Some experience in data analysis and problem-solving methods

  • Some experience with coding or event-based language (Examples CAPL, C or Matlab/Simulink, visual basic, Python)

  • Competent in MS office

 

Desirable:

  • Some experience in automotive testing

  • Working knowledge of calibration tools such as ETAS INCA, Vector CANape etc.

  • Some experience with electrified vehicle systems such as MHEV, PHEV and BEV

  • Some practical knowledge of vehicle networks and architectures (CAN/CAN-FD/FlexRay/LIN) at a protocol manipulation level.

  • Valid UK Driving license
